Coupling Cranes

Cranes or herons are some of my favorite birds. I see them everywhere, living always near water.  I feel a calm wash over me when I pass them along the banks of rivers and the west coast ocean, a sense of peace and belonging when they so gracefully and silently wade in the waters, make soft eye contact or fly low above the tree tops. A creature that is both gentle and stealth, larger than we think they are. This piece is small, only 10" in diameter. Hand sculpted and painted in my studio late in the evenings when there is a silence and calm that matches their presence.
